El Segundo names Maxwell alumnus city manager

Scott Mitnick ‘89 MPA became the city manager of El Segundo, Calif., on July 1.

Mitnick now manages a staff of more than 240 employees as well as the city’s approximately $115-million budget. El Segundo is a coastal community in Los Angeles County’s South Bay. The city is a hub of aerospace activity and the home of Los Angeles Air Force Base and the Los Angeles Times.

Mitnick has spent 30 years in public service, 21 at the executive level. In addition to El Segundo, Mitnick has worked for local governments across California, including Oakland, Sutter County, Thousand Oaks, Burbank, and Brea. Most recently, he was a director and municipal advisor for KNN Public Finance.
