The Washington Post
"China’s education system produces stellar test scores. So why do 600,000 students go abroad each year to study?," written by Yingyi Ma, was published in the Washington Post's Monkey Cage blog. Ma suggests that Chinese students are motivated to study abroad because of disappointment with the Chinese education system, which they assert “stifles creativity” and “entails hellish hours of studying.” The ambition to get into a good college without submitting to extreme studying brings them to the United States. 12/17/19
