On Monday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave its full approval for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, sparking new vaccine requirements and renewed debate. According to Grant Reeher, professor of political science and director of the Campbell Public Affairs Institute, the continued debate in spite of the FDA approval illustrates just how entrenched opinions are. "The whole situation shows just how powerful the polarization is,” said Reeher. “You would think that if anything were able to dislodge it, it would be something that involves health, and life and death, directly. And even that doesn’t seem able to dislodge it.”
Reeher is quoted in The Hill article "The Memo: Boos for Trump show scale of vaccine challenge."
