Rhoda Rossman ’82 MPA has been appointed to the California Catastrophe Response Council by Governor Gavin Newsom.

The Catastrophe Response Council, created this past year by the state’s legislature, is responsible for overseeing the California Wildfire Fund, which contains $20 billion in capital liquidity earmarked for paying uninsured destruction due to wildfire damage. They are also charged with appointing an administrator for the Wildfire Fund. Rossman is one of three members of the public who were appointed by the governor for a two-year term.

Rossman, who retired in 2010 from a long career managing investments in the private sector, currently serves as an independent trustee of Matthews Asia Fund, where she currently directs the mutual fund and compliance. She previously worked with PMI Mortgage Insurance in several positions, including as corporate investment officer; and also spent time with several firms, including Montgomery Asset Management, Wells Fargo, and RCM Capital Management.
